Healthy and tasty Tofu as a main dish
Tofu steak with summer vegetable sauce
○Ingredients 【2 Persons】
Momen Tofu (firm tofu)…………… 1
Cucumbe……………r 1
Bell pepper…………… 2
Ginger…………… 1 piece
Okura…………… 1
Cherry tomatoes…………… 3
Shibazuke (picked vegetables)…………… 30g
Lemon juice…………… 1 Table Spoon
Myoga-take (young Japanese ginger stick)…………… 2
Flour
Soy sauce
○How to make
1 Cut the firm tofu in half and then horizontally in 3 cm thick slices. Wrap in a paper towel for about 10 minutes to take the water out.
2 Mince cucumber, bell pepper, ginger, lightly boiled okura, cherry tomatoes and shibazuke. Mix well with lemon juice.
3 Add oil into a frying pan. Sprinkle 1 table spoon of flour on both sides of the firm tofu slices, and fry them. Once they are lightly browned add 2 table spoons of soy sauce. Finish frying the tofu until the soy sauce is caramelised.
4 Serve it on a plate and pour the vegetables with lemon juice on top. Put the myoga-take on the side.
